Applique
Applique is a cutting and gluing of figures, patterns or whole pictures made of paper, cloth, leaves, straw, birch bark and other materials. Basis-background for applique is chosen according to texture and colour of the image. Colour cardboard or heavyweight common or velvet paper is used more often. Background size and format depend on scale and theme of the composition.
